CLAIMS & RISK MANAGEMENT CONSULTANCY
GJT Marine provides a variety of claims and risk management consultancy services to organizations and entities worldwide in the shipping and marine insurance industries. These services include assisting its clients with the day-to-day handling, management and oversight of marine risks, claims and litigation; sanctions regulatory compliance assistance and advice; claims and compliance department auditing functions; educational training and seminars; and debt collection assistance.

Claims & Risk Management Services
GJT Marine offers standard claims consultancy assistance on a case by case basis for either an hourly rate or a flat fee. Services are also available for multiple matters or assisting with particular claims and risk management functions within an organization. Secondment services are available upon request.
Neutral reviews of existing disputes may also be provided upon request to assist a client with assessing the risks associated with pursuing a dispute to its conclusion or otherwise.

Auditing
Having been intimately involved with the development of claims procedures for both IG P&I and traditional fixed premium, liability insurers, as well as compliance protocols for, inter alia, US and international sanctions regulations, Data Protection and Foreign Corrupt Practices, and other dispute resolution protocols for coverage disputes, and organizational guidelines and procedures for a worldwide claims team, GJT Marine is poised to provide auditing and operational reviews of compliance, claims handling and risk management functions in insurance companies, vessel owning operating and/or management companies, charterers, insurance and chartering brokers, surveyors, and other maritime related third-party service providers. If requested, GJT Marine is available to review existing processes and written procedures and then assist the client with the development of either a full-blown and new procedures manual or a detailed report identifying specific areas of existing protocols which need to be refined and amended. The audit in question can be tailored to the specific needs of the client and the scope and fees for the performing such auditing services can also be flexibly achieved.

Education/Training
GJT Marine can assist your organization improve its understanding and appreciation of dealing with particular types of situations that have the potential to increase exposure or, more importantly, to avoid such risk and exposures altogether. GJT Marine can provide your organization with detailed seminars and workshops to improve overall risk awareness and improve your company's appreciation of risk management and compliance functions. General training with particular types of maritime disputes and claims can also be provided to new members of your team just starting out in the maritime industry or, to experienced members of your team, who would like a presentation on claims viewed from the particular perspective of an insurer, owner, charterer or other interested party. We can also assist you with improving your understanding and relationships with existing insurers from a standpoint of training and educational seminars to explain what your insurer and, in certain contexts, what your insurer’s claims department expects of you both in terms of avoid risk, as well as dealing with an incident after it takes place.

Debt Collection Matters
GJT Marine can also assist clients with their efforts to obtain or to defend against pre-judgment or post-judgment security in connection with maritime claims or debts worldwide. Having the experience of arresting or attaching vessels or other assets and/or defending against the arrest or attachment of vessels or other assets on six continents over the past quarter century, GJT Marine is available for consultation purposes to either advise clients and/or their appointed lawyers regarding the potential appointment of lawyers or local correspondents (non-lawyers) to assist in foreign jurisdictions. GJT Marine is also able to provide neutral evaluations of any such proposed enforcement efforts to enable the client to make as informed a decision as possible when contemplating whether to expend the time and resources in such a context.

Having handled and resolved countless maritime and commercial disputes around the world and in the most remote jurisdictions, GJT Marine can also assist its clients and/or their appointed representatives with finding the right lawyer, expert or other specialist to best represent or protect their interests in litigation here in the US or abroad in other jurisdictions.
